The drink that makes me feel like its a summer day with the sun on my skin and my favorite bikini on.
Here's what you are going to need:
INGREDIENTS
- A cup - preferably a tall glass tumbler... kinda like the Nat's Cafe Glass Tumbler :)
- Ice... lots of ice
- Heavy whipping cream
- Fresh blueberries
- Sugar
- Water
- A sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, etc.)
- A small pot
- A food mill or your favorite berry straining device
- A milk frother
Once you have everything we can start preparing our workspace. Here's the steps you should follow:
FIRST, THE BLUEBERRY SYRUP...
- Pour the water, blueberries, and sugar into a small pot on the stove
- Stir the water, blueberries, and sugar together
- Bring the pot to a rolling boil
- Stir occasionally for 2 minutes while boiling
- Remove from heat and let cool
- Pour the contents of the pot into your food mill or strainer of choice
- Extract as much of the fresh sweet syrup as you can
- Funnel the syrup into your favorite jar that has an airtight lid
- Refrigerate and enjoy in your coffee for the next week!
Now that you have your blueberry syrup ready, go ahead and prepare your iced latte! Here's what I typically do:
- Grind up 18 grams of Fresh Tan Medium Roast whole bean coffee to the perfect size for espresso
- Pull a double shot at a 1:2 ratio
- Add sweetener to the hot shot and stir so it mixes well.. I do honey :)
- Fill your glass with ice to the top
- Pour in 6oz of milk
- Pour in your shot and admire the beautiful colors of coffee mixing with milk
- Add 2 teaspoons of your blueberry syrup (adjust to your sweetness desires)
- Stir your latte together until its all one perfect color
NOW THE COLD FOAM...
- Add these ingredients into a milk frother: 2 tbsp heavy cream, 1 tbsp milk of your choice, 2 tbsp of your fresh blueberry syrup
- Froth until creamy, fluffy, and purple (add more blueberry syrup for more intense color)
- Pour on top of your latte
FINALLY...
Add 3 blueberries to the top of your cold foam as the perfect garnish. All thats left is for you to sip and let your mind wander off to your favorite sunny place.
