Banana Bread Iced Latte

Who doesn't walk into a coffee shop and look to see if they have fun, fresh baked goodies too? Whether I'm home or out and about, my favorite sweet treat is chocolate chip banana bread muffins... and so I thought... my coffee has notes of chocolate and I can make a banana syrup. Why not combine the two! 

Here's what you are going to need:

INGREDIENTS

  • A cup - preferably a tall glass tumbler... kinda like the Nat's Cafe Glass Tumbler :)
  • Ice... lots of ice
  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Ripe bananas
  • Sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Water
  • Cinnamon
  • Salt
  • Vanilla extract
  • A small pot
  • A funnel
  • A milk frother

Once you have everything we can start preparing our workspace. Here's the steps you should follow:

FIRST, THE BANANA BREAD SYRUP...

  1. Mash 2 ripe bananas
  2. Add the two mashed bananas to your small pot
  3. Pour 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, a dash of cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and a dash of vanilla extract into a small pot on the stove
  4. Stir the ingredients together
  5. Bring the pot to a rolling boil
  6. Stir occasionally for 2 minutes while boiling
  7. Remove from heat and let cool
  8. Pour the contents of the pot into your favorite glass jar with an airtight lid (a funnel may make this part easier)
  9. Refrigerate and enjoy in your coffee for the next few days!

Now that you have your banana bread syrup ready, go ahead and prepare your iced latte! Here's what I typically do:

  1. Grind up 18 grams of Fresh Tan Medium Roast whole bean coffee to the perfect size for espresso
  2. Pull a double shot at a 1:2 ratio
  3. Fill your glass with ice to the top
  4. Pour in 6oz of milk
  5. Pour in your shot and admire the beautiful colors of coffee mixing with milk
  6. Add 2 teaspoons of your banana bread syrup (adjust to your sweetness desires)
  7. Stir your latte together until its all one perfect color

NOW THE COLD FOAM...

  1. Add these ingredients into a milk frother: 2 tbsp heavy cream, 1 tbsp milk of your choice, 2 tbsp of your fresh banana bread syrup
  2. Froth until creamy and fluffy 
  3. Pour on top of your latte

FINALLY...

Add three little slices of banana as the perfect garnish on top of your fluffy cold foam. Now you can experience the joy of being at your favorite coffee shop bakery wherever you can carry your coffee!
